Military Aviation Museum Zeltweg/Hangar 8

In 2005, a temporary military aviation exhibition was organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the Austrian Armed Forces of the Second Republic. The collection subsequently remained in existence and has been run as a branch of the Museum of Military History in Vienna since 2012.

More than 25 aircraft from the history of Austrian military aviation - focussing on those of the Austrian Armed Forces of the Second Republic - are on display in the historic Hangar No. 8 on 5,000 m² of exhibition space.

The following models are among the aircraft on display:

  • a Yakovlev Yak-18 - the first aircraft to enter service with the Austrian Armed Forces of the Second Republic
  • Fouga CM 170 ‘Magister’
  • De Havilland DH-115 ‘Vampire’
  • Saab J-29F ‘Flying Ton’
  • Agusta Bell 204
  • Saab 35OE ‘Draken’.
  • Alouette III registration KF 
Auf diesem Bild ist ein Hubschrauber zu sehen. Auf dem Heck des Hubschraubers ist die Bezeichnung 4DB sowie das Hocheitszeichen zu erkennen. Der Hubschrauber ist umgeben von kleineren Hubschraubern. Der Boden ist mit einem grünen Filzboden verziehrt. Der Raum ist hell durchleuchtet.
Auf dem Bild ist die SAAB mit der Bezeichnung "GF-16" in der Halle des Fliegerhorst zu sehen, in der Vogelperspektive. Der Heckflügel ist mit einem schwarz-gelben Tigermuster verziert. Neben dem Flugzeug steht eine Marionette verkleidet als Pilot.
Auf dem Bild ist ein Hubschrauber bereit zum Abflug. Der Hubschrauber wurde außerhalb der Halle fotografiert.
Dieses Bild zeigt den Eingang zum Hangar 8 des Militärluftfahrtmuseums, wo eine farbenfrohe Propellermaschine mit orangegelben Farbtönen auffällt. Links davon steht eine Haubitze, während auf dem Boden ein grüner Teppich liegt.
